Chicago – Brian Urlacher would intercept Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan and also return a Ryan fumble 12 yards for a touchdown as the Bears beat Atlanta 30-12. Both teams started the game by trading field goals until the Falcons committed the first of their three turnovers on the game. The Bears would score 17 points off of Falcons’ turnovers and Bears’ quarterback Jay Cutler would throw for 312 yards and two touchdowns. Bears’ runningback Matt Forte would turn the Falcons’ first turnover into points by taking a screen pass 56 yards for a score. In the second quarter the Bears would kick two more FGs to extend their lead to 16-3 going into the half. The Bears’ defense would continue to give Ryan fits as Chicago limited the Falcons’ offense to one field goal in the second half. Cutler would score his final touchdown during the third quarter hitting tight end Matt Spaeth in the back of the endzone. Urlacher would score off of Matt Ryan’s fumble in the third quarter to seal the game for Chicago putting the Bears at 1-0 as they seek to defend their division crown. Atlanta falls to 0-1 tying them with division rival New Orleans who fell to the Packers on Thursday. Atlanta plays its home-opener versus Micheal Vick and the Eagles next Sunday.
