MIAMI GARDENS – Things went from really, really bad to much, much worse for the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The Dolphins squandered a 15-0 lead with 2:44 remaining in the game in an 18-15 loss to the Denver Broncos. Denver drew to within eight with 2:44 on a Tim Tebow touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas with 2:44 remaining in the fourth quarter. The ensuing onside kick went through the hands of Dolphins’ wide receiver Marlon Moore and was recovered by Denver.
The Broncos would go 56 yards in 10 plays and got in the end zone on a throwback screen from Tebow to Daniel Fells. Tebow scored the two-point-conversion on a quarterback draw to tie the game at 15 and send it to overtime. After the teams traded punts in overtime, Miami quarterback Matt Moore, was sacked and fumbled near his own 35 and the Broncos recovered. Denver ran three plays resulting in two net yards setting up Matt Prater’s game-winning 52 yard field goal.
In his first start of the season, Tim Tebow went just 13-for-27 for 161 yards, but played well in the waning minutes for Denver. The Dolphins gained just 267 yards on the day. Matt Moore threw his first touchdown pass of the season early in the fourth quarter, to Anthony Fasano. The Dolphins are now 0-6 and will visit the Meadowlands for the second time in three weeks next Sunday as they take on the New York Giants. Denver (2-4) will return home to host Detroit.
