ATLANTA- Kentucky and Indiana went up and down the court the entire night; however, Kentucky was to strong for Indiana as the Wildcats collected the 102-90 victory. UK had 5 players in double figures led by Michael Kidd-Gilchrist who scored 24 points and had 10 rebounds. UK shot 48% from the field and hit 50% from behind the arc. The real story of the game was the 35 free throws made Kentucky while its bench outscored Indiana 22-6.
Indiana had all five starters in double digits scoring led by Christian Watford who had a game-high 27 points. The Hoosiers shot an impressive 52% from the field however, they only shot 17 free throws making 13 of them while shooting 27% from behind the arc. In a game that was a hack fest the two teams combined for 45 fouls, but only 14 turnovers. Although IU hit more field goals than UK, 36 to 31 respectively, the game came down to the free throw battle which led Kentucky to the win.
Kentucky will now face the third-seeded Baylor Bears on Sunday after Baylor defeated Xavier earlier Friday night. Indiana finishes the season 27-9.
