Well hello there sports fans and beer drinkers; this is your friendly neighborhood beer man coming to you from the comfort of his own home, with a rare and deserving day off. The Rays have a day off too and it is a good thing because I was getting hammered in fantasy baseball and I have three Rays on my team … oh and the Rays just got swept by the 1st place White Sox. Wait … Wait … Wait … The Orioles were swept too! What does that mean? The Rays are still in first! They have a chance to take sole custody this weekend though with a 3-game series against the Baltimore Orioles. Both teams in first and both just off of getting swept; who will win? With the Yankees, Jays and Red Sox on the upswing and each with fairly decent win streaks, the Rays have to get their hitting back to what it needs to be if the team wants to stay in first. I guess when Monday morning rolls around; we will see who comes out on top of the American League East dog pile.
On to our other Florida baseball team; the Marlins are on a 3-game winning streak of their own with a sweep of the 1st place Washington Nationals. Don’t look now, but the Marlins are only a half game out of first! The Fish and the Phils open a three-game series on June 1st to start the Marlin road trip. The Nats and Braves start the same day. Keep watching!
On a traveling note, this beer man will be working the next 3 Rays’ games then on to Miami to do a Marlins home-stand June 5th–7th against the Atlanta Braves then a 3-game series against the Rays! Yes, it is the first time the Rays visit the new Marlins Ballpark. Expect a big crowd of course but watch for the following series as the Red Sox come rolling in to South Florida for 3 games. Lots going on in South Florida. The Mets come to Tropicana Field June 12th with the Marlins coming to Tropicana Field June 15th. Lots of good baseball coming up, so get your glove ready, you may catch a foul ball or two!
More to come tomorrow!
Be safe and be responsible.
